In brief

As part of the modernisation of railway infrastructure in West Africa, CFS aims to secure its level crossings, which are often located in areas without wired network access.

  • PEPPS acts as the technical partner of Future Resources to design a connected, intelligent, and autonomous system suited to these complex environments.

This project illustrates a targeted approach to the digitalisation of critical networks through high-performance digital solutions.

THE CHALLENGE

Securing level crossings without wired networks

The Senegalese railway network includes numerous isolated crossing points where the absence of wired cabling prevents the installation of conventional systems.

  • CFS clearly expressed its need for an autonomous system capable of providing real-time monitoring and preventing railway accidents, even in areas lacking traditional infrastructure.

THE MISSION

A connected and scalable architecture serving railway safety

PEPPS acts as a strategic technical partner alongside Future Resources to implement a tailor-made solution. This system ensures field data collection, remote supervision, and integration with CFS control systems. The mission includes several operational components:

  • Retrieval of data transmitted by level crossing control units.

  • Design of remotely accessible dashboards to enable accurate monitoring of equipment status.

  • Integration of information into CFS traffic control centres (COTRAF).

  • Technical support for deploying the solution across the relevant railway network.

This system follows a modular architecture. It enables rapid deployment without ground cabling and adapts to isolated environments where access to conventional infrastructure remains limited. It helps strengthen the monitoring of critical railway infrastructure while ensuring continuous analysis of field data.

Enhanced safety at level crossings

The system enables faster detection of critical anomalies. It helps reduce the risk of accidents, even in the most isolated areas of the railway network.

Continuous access to field data

Teams benefit from real-time monitoring in all environments. The absence of a wired network does not prevent reliable transmission of key information.

Integration with CFS supervision tools

Data is transmitted directly to the CFS traffic control centres (COTRAF). This ensures consistent and centralised event management.

Simplified and rapid installation

The architecture does not rely on ground cabling. Deployment is fast, with reduced logistical impact and compatibility with constrained environments.

Modular and scalable solution

The system can be deployed on other sites or railway networks. It adapts to specific needs without requiring changes to its technical infrastructure.

Overall improvement in operational management

Equipment monitoring becomes more reliable. Managers gain access to precise indicators to adjust interventions and anticipate potential malfunctions.
