In brief
The Government of Guyana, supported by the European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD), has partnered with Pepps to implement a digital wood traceability platform.
This project aims to ensure the legality of forest flows, strengthen sector transparency, and comply with the requirements of the FLEGT VPA agreements and the European EUDR regulation.

The Challenge
The absence of digital wood traceability
-
Guyana’s forestry sector faces numerous operational limitations. Wood flows are tracked manually, which increases the risk of fraud and makes controls less effective.
-
The lack of a centralized digital solution complicates the validation of logging permits and alignment with international standards. The administration suffers from a lack of transparency and reliable data to ensure effective governance.
THE MISSION
Development of a wood tracking platform
To address these challenges, Pepps is developing a digital wood tracking platform covering the entire value chain, from harvesting to export. This solution ensures smooth and transparent traceability, tailored to local constraints and European regulatory requirements.
-
Mobile and web application available offline, designed for field operators
-
QR code system for quick identification and real-time log tracking
-
Interactive GIS mapping to visualize forest concessions and logging operations
-
Centralized and secure database to validate certificates and permits
-
Automatic report generation and alerts to strengthen regulatory controls
The implementation of this digital forest monitoring solution enables Guyana to significantly modernize its forest management. The project helps secure data, automate verification processes, and reassure European trade partners about the legality of exported timber.
The Impacts
Increased compliance and transparency

Technologies
Technologies used for intelligent wood traceability
The project relies on a robust and proven technological architecture, designed to ensure the platform’s reliability, security, and scalability.

-
PostGIS for GIS mapping management

Other
-
Azure Cloud for secure and flexible hosting
Why trust Pepps with your environmental traceability project?

Pepps has been involved for several years in the digitalization of projects with strong regulatory and environmental components. Our knowledge of standards such as FLEGT and EUDR allows us to anticipate constraints and deliver fully compliant solutions.
Our platforms are designed to easily connect with existing systems (national databases, permit registries, public or sector-specific ERPs) to ensure smooth and secure exchange of sensitive data.
We leverage powerful tools such as PostGIS to visualize spatial data and map concessions, forests, and regulated areas within intuitive interfaces accessible even offline.
Our applications are designed to operate in constrained environments: limited connectivity, non-technical users, and mobile field equipment. Each project is tailored to local practices.
The systems we develop include modules for automatic report generation, alerts, and dashboards to facilitate regulatory controls and international audits.

Want to digitalize your business processes with Pepps?
The digital wood traceability project in Guyana perfectly illustrates Pepps’ ability to turn complex needs into concrete, sustainable, and effective digital solutions. If you want to modernize your management systems, strengthen data control, or develop tailor-made business tools, our team can support you at every step.
