The Ministry of Transport of Cameroon – CAMRAIL has launched a digital transformation project for the railway line along the strategic Yaoundé–Douala corridor.

  • Pepps was commissioned to design a comprehensive, modular, and interoperable digital solution aimed at optimizing the maintenance management of railway infrastructure spread over long distances.

The challenge

Optimizing large-scale maintenance operations management

  • Railway maintenance requires strong coordination between teams spread across wide geographic areas. The continued partial use of paper made traceability difficult, slowed decision-making, and limited the flow of real-time information.

  • Modernizing this process had become essential to improve both efficiency and reliability.

The mission

A digital platform to supervise field operations

Pepps designed a modular cloud-based digital platform, UPRAIL, featuring interfaces tailored to different user profiles. The solution relies on modern technologies (PostGIS, PWA App, TimescaleDB) to ensure structured monitoring and clear visualization of operations. The system includes:

  • A mobile application for field teams, enabling them to create reports, track work orders, and update progress.

  • A web-based supervision interface enriched with dashboards, filters, maps, and key performance indicators.

  • A dedicated back-office for user management, planning, exports, and reference data administration.

  • A fully digitalized workflow — from field reporting to intervention closure — including weekly schedule validation.
